    Booze, Ballads and Bloodshed (Tales from the Time of Henry Purcell) was commissioned by the ensemble Bella Tromba, and received its premier at the 2008 Harrogate International Festival. It draws on the music and folklore which would have been familiar to the English composer Henry Purcell and heard on the streets of London at the end of the seventeenth century.

    Ross Brown is a trumpet player, teacher and composer. He works with a wide variety of leading modern and period-instrument orchestras and ensembles throughout the U.K., and is principal trumpet of the London Chamber Orchestra. He teaches trumpet and natural trumpet at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, is a Senior Associate teacher at the University of Bristol, and is Head of Brass at the specialist music department of Wells Cathedral School. In 2015 he was appointed Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
