    John Miller
    John Miller is Director of Brass Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, and is internationally recognised as a leading brass teacher. His playing began in a local brass band, in Fife, Scotland, and continued in the National Youth Orchestra. He subsequently read music at King's College, Cambridge, followed by postgraduate study in New York and Chicago.
    His performing experience was London-based, notably with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, the Philharmonia (1997 - 1984), and the Wallace Collection. His orchestral playing included playing for Bernstein, Boult, Giulini, Maazel, Muti, Sinopoli, Stokowski and Svetlanov.

    John was professor of trumpet at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1979 to 2001, and is currently a brass tutor for both The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the European Union Youth Orchestra. In 1993 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Guildhall School.
