    Alwyn Green
    Alwyn Green was born and educated in Norwich. He studied at the Guildhall School of music and Drama from 1968 - 1971 and was awarded the Brass Prize in his second year. At this time he also passed diplomas at the Royal Academy 9of Music (performance) and Trinity College London (teaching).

    On leaving Guildhall he was immediately appointed to the Principal Bass Trombone chair in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has played Trombone or Euphonium with almost all the British orchestras. In 1986 he was invited to take up a principal position in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra where he is still employed. He was a founder member of the Palm Court Theatre Orchestra and the Prince of Wales Brass. He is the founder and musical director of the Berkley Salon Ensemble and is also principal guest conductor of the Shirley Band.

    He teaches at both Birmingham University and the Birmingham Conservatoire and is frequently engaged to coach at other colleges and similar institutions.

    As a composer and arranger he undertakes regular commissions from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and other groups and a number of his pieces have been broadcast and commercially recorded. He lives in Solihull with his wife Madelyn, who is a lecturer in higher education. They have two grown up children.
