David Stewart
David Stewart was born in Glasgow in 1963. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Peter Gane and Raymond Premru and, while there, won the Shell/LSO Music Scholarship. In 1984 he joined the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and still plays with London Brass (the group changed its name in 1986 on Philip's retirement). Also in 1986, he joined the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
David has enjoyed a very varied career. Apart from working with most of Britain's symphony, chamber, period, and contemporary orchestras, he has played on hundreds of soundtracks for TV and film; performed and recorded with many stars of the jazz world including Quincy Jones, Tommy Smith, Kenny Wheeler, John Surman, and Hermeto Pascaol; and made numerous recordings with artists including Robbie Williams, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, and Texas.
David joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999.
Away from the bass trombone, David loves spending time with his family, playing golf, and eating and drinking his way through "The Good Food Guide".
