    This popular Prelude from 1739 is one of Bach's few compositions to be published during his lifetime. It starts with a bold opening then moves onto a fairly contrasting fugal middle section before restating the opening theme for a grand, regal finish.


    Iain Maxwell
    Iain Maxwell was born in Scotland and is a recent graduate of both the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He has played with orchestras and chamber groups such as the London Symphony Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra, New London Sinfonia and is a member of the Clarke Brass Quintet. He also performed alongside Maxïmo Park on their UK Tour '09.

    Since 2007 Iain has also been a member of the Britten-Pears Orchestra, where he has recently collaborated with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Last year Iain was also involved in a collaboration between Southbank Sinfonia and the National Theatre in a production of Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, a play for orchestra and actors by André Previn and Tom Stoppard.
